{from a CJUSD teacher}

I spoke to two board members last night who recommended that we CONTINUE to send EMAILS to board members on a regular basis. To paraphrase one of the members--KEEP THE EMAILS BRIEF, CONCISE, AND NON-THREATENING. Do not make personal attacks towards members that may distract from your original point.

I just sent an email to the school board members. Shame on those that continue to refuse to change the Grand Terrace High School name.

Keep sending e-mails. You are dealing with three individuals, the ringleader Albiso and his followers Ibarra and Armenta. Why these three don't seem to care about the racial anger and the problems this will create among our youth is beyond comprehension. The smug reaction of these folks may be a result of their underlying hatred and they continue to rub Ray's name into the ground.

This could not have been said more clear. Let's stick to the fact and the issue with an overwhelming beat of optimism and positive perspective. Remember, THEY ARE HUMAN and there is a condition & element of the heart we are dealing with too. We want them to stay engaged and continue to give reasonable consideration to our petition. Frank Ibarra told me last night that things had been changing in our favor, but there has been an overwhelming of personal attacks and threats through emails etc..
Let's Overwhelm them in a good way and turn their favor in our direction.

I hope you are right however kindness hasn't been to successful so far. I feel they are using the, be patient, ploy of many in history. If you drag something out long enough the supporters will lose interest and the issue will disappear. I think like tv media inclusion, a Grand Terrace student "BLUE FLU" day, legal picketing of Board Members homes,etc, etc. The time is now. or you can just wait for things to possibly change in your favor.If you have the time and patience

I have no interest in delay (never have). I feel we need a full court press right away (just as we have been doing). We have momentum on our side, and momentum is very delicate and can shift the wrong way if the wrong ingredients are injected. In my opinion, picketing their homes is crossing a line. They have families and nothing good will result from it.

I agree with you on the picketing, Nick. Their home lives shouldn't be involved in this. This should be treated as a matter relating to their jobs--because that's what it is-- and that is where the attention needs to be focused---attending board meetings (however last night turned out, that DID get their attention), emails (polite and to the point), and, of course, snail mail.

Suggestion: if anyone mails a letter to the school board regarding this issue, DO NOT put "GRAND TERRACE HIGH SCHOOL" or anything like that on the envelope. Such a letter will likely be set aside. If the letter has ONLY the recipient's name, (for example, Mel Albiso), then it HAS to be opened--there will be no way to identify the sender, and if they don't open it, they take a chance on missing something important. And the amount of extra time involved on the part of whoever opens the mail is bound to get their attention as well.
