Parents, School Board Member Robert Armenta said he would not be bullied by you. He was referencing you turning in your waiver forms.

It is important now more then ever. We need to show Robert Armenta that going back on his word will not go unpunished! We need to UNITE and prove a point to Armenta. Turn in the OPT out waviers! The Board does not want to listen to the people of the district, therefore do NOT deserve the test scores from the district!
The only bullying that Mr. Armenta received was from the people that he spoke to between his Monday meeting with our organizers and Thursday's Board Meeting. He has changed his mind often and admitted to a group tonight that he was "still struggling" with the decision.
The facts are: 1)Mr. Armenta made the motion to name the new school Ray Abril High School; 2) He led us to believe Monday that he was in favor of renaming the school; 3) He withdrew his support and chose to keep the name.
My question is who is doing the bullying? Our supporters or fellow board members? So, is he open to renaming it again? I'm not sure if he even knows. Keep sending him those emails!
Everyone was so well spoken tonight. Well except for the shouter/chanter in the back - but everyone who got the mike, well done you made us proud! Tomorrow I will turn in my opt out form and am mailing a copy along with a letter to Mr. J. Downs. It's a letter of concern and dissapointment - not of hate or anything mean. Let's continue to be a group of respectable adults and let the board be the ones to look bad, not us. So pipe down with the hate and threats - that's definitely NOT going to get us what we want. Lovin' the GT unity though!! -Angel Mann
Very, very sly CJUSD school board to arrange to have only 6 Board members in attendance and a 3-3 vote. However, review my previous post that the only legitimate record of politicians' values and commitments is their overall public voting record. It was made clear at the meeting at least three members DO NOT GET IT, or worse- DON'T CARE. They are here to serve the RESIDENTS of the Colton Joint Unified School District, not their personal agendas, right their previous wrongs, or "represent" one group or another. Standing united as ONE PEOPLE, ONE DISTRICT is the right message that we will not be divided and will not stand for our voices being silenced.
Second - I am sure that going against the machine is a very difficult decision for families to make - some individuals believe very strongly in the following the rules. I want to share with those families to do what is right for you - this movement is about exercising your right to be heard, and if opting out isn't right for you, I urge you to become involved through the recall efforts and future elections of the Board that is supposed to serve you. We are all in this together and each of us can contribute and be heard in ways that fit within our own comfort level and belief system.
In all of this I can't help but wonder what Mr. Abril contributed to lead Mr. Armenta to believe that Mr. Abril should be singled out for this honor. Were his contributions really above and beyond the call of duty? And how about the school board members with whom he served? I wonder how some of them feel about Mr. Abril being singled out for this honor, thus insuring he will be remembered after they are long gone. I wonder how they feel about their own contributions . . . and I wonder if they wonder how the people they served felt about those.

Taking my forms down tomorrow! Don't give up! With scores in the high 90s and 100% in math, we will see how well they do without my children's scores!
You bet - opt out of testing!!!!
Two points:

Go GT! Fight on...
Will it be possible for me to enroll my kids in the district really fast... and then opt out? I am so willing to do that.
We live in GT, but my kids go to school in Redlands.
Can someone let me know if this is doable?
I mean... my tax money is still being paid to Colton... ya know!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Tobin Brinker and others for the STAR test opt out strategy.
I also want to thank Supervisor Neil Derry for his letters of support and analysis.
Keep goin' folks. I think we can win this battle.
