{from a CJUSD teacher}

Keep sending e-mails. You are dealing with three individuals, the ringleader Albiso and his followers Ibarra and Armenta. Why these three don't seem to care about the racial anger and the problems this will create among our youth is beyond comprehension. The smug reaction of these folks may be a result of their underlying hatred and they continue to rub Ray's name into the ground.

We have 3 votes, all we need is one more. If you know Zamora or Ibarra please contact them and encourge them to talk to Ray. Don't stop turning in your waivers,we need volunteers to pass out flyers at Colton High, they test on Tues the 28th.

Let's stick to the fact and the issue with an overwhelming beat of optimism and positive perspective. Remember, THEY ARE HUMAN and there is a condition & element of the heart we are dealing with too. We want them to stay engaged and continue to give reasonable consideration to our petition. Frank Ibarra told me last night that things had been changing in our favor, but there has been an overwhelming of personal attacks and threats through emails etc..
Let's Overwhelm them in a good way and turn their favor in our direction.

As they say in the political world, it is important to stay on message. I agree with those who encourage optimism and positive perspectives and using the waiver card for those who feel comfortable doing so. I'm also impressed with the comments that acknowledge that not everyone will do the same things to get to the same place, but everyone should contribute in whatever ways they can. It takes a broad base to be successful--
We want to stay focused. This is an issue that has brought out more participation than I can remember--and again, it is and it isn't just about the name. It's the beginning.

Mr. Betten is correct. The stubborn mules that are on the board are not going to be intimidated by personal attacks and threats. We win by sticking to the message. We win by stating our case succinctly and truthfully. We win by drawing our line in the sand and standing firm. Responding nobly and respectfully will gain the goal. I think last nights vote was a slap back to us saying, "you could perhaps persuade me to move, but you will never do so by threatening me." You organizers need to shut down the loud mouths. It is hard to do but worth it in the long run. Get them out on the sidewalk yelling and away from the board. Let the calmer heads work in that direction. I think we can still succeed. And go for the big goal-unseating some of these politically ambitious career politicians.

Positive direction?Thats fine.But being held hostge because we might persuade them to change their minds by"non threatening"mails etc. is a croc.I do not condone abrasive type of protest,but these men ought to know that when you have a public issue like this that some will be more extreme than others.The pride and rebellion lies solely on these mens shoulders and they were peobably laughing at all this at whatever place they had their toddy's after the meeting.The naming of the school this way in the first place,the ensueing public outrage,met by pure hubris by some on the board,forces me to look further at what is their core motive,which seems painfully obvious that these men harbor a common resentment that they now flaunt through a convoluted way in an elected office.I am only expressing my thoughts here and intend not to be abrasive toward the men in question.But can you think of another set of elected officials in any school district that would come up with such a notion as naming a HIGH SCHOOL in a town sensitive to the whole subject after a man that hardly anyone has ever heard of?DEFYING the vote suggestion of the people?We must not quit this.The claims,bullied,etc.are lame.Outside of sending emails what else can be done to ramp up this deal to get once and for all to the bottom of this?I sure dont know,that is why I am here.

be polite and be prepared for a butt kicking .....these people only care about their agendas....you must stoop to their unfortunate non-caring level. or give it up.these people don't work by the common sense rules

If you want to help, write your local media outlets, KFRG, KFI,KCAL, etc. channel 7-4-2-9-11 news stations.
We will be posting the next meeting date soon.
We will need volunteers to help pass out waiver letters to parents in Colton, Bloominton and Grand Terrace. Lets work together to spread the word to the parents of this school district. If we don't unite, we don't make an impression.
Please show up and help us if you really believe you can affect your community.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped us to this point. we had a 6-1 vote, now it's 3-3, we just need one more!
Step up and help your community, I did.

They are just being stubborn and exerting their power because they can. They are creating a racial divide that does not need to be there, all for some underlying agenda that is who knows how many years old. It's time to let it go, stop acting like children, and think about the kids who will be attending the school, listen to the will of the people and name it after the community it represents, just like every other high school around here. Name one of the upcoming elementary schools after Ray if you are so concerned about honoring him and stop putting him in the middle of some longstanding petty feud with the people of Grand Terrace.

If Mel is the ringleader, then it is clear that this is about him and not about any of the residents he represents. Take a look at his videos on You Tube, where he angrily talks about being the victim of racism and how being on the board has helped him fight back.

Wow! I just watched the You Tube videos. They do offer insight into Mr. Albiso's perspective.
